DOJO POLICIES – REMAINING CONSISTENT WITH THE CDC GUIDELINES
  • The front door will be used to enter the dojo and the back door will be used to exit the dojo.
  • Students should not come into the dojo more than 5 minutes prior to the beginning of their class.
  • One adult family member will be allowed inside the dojo to observe class. If additional family members would like to attend, permission must be obtained from Sensei Dawn prior to class.
  • Students will use hand sanitizer upon entering the dojo. If a student does not have hand sanitizer, there will be some provided.
  • Class times will be 30-40 minutes to allow for additional cleaning between classes.
  • Students will be asked to come dressed in their gi, and change out of their gi after class once they are at home.
  • Bring your own water bottle to class. If this is not possible, let Sensei Dawn know in advance and she will have a glass of water ready for you. The water cooler may not be used by multiple people.
  • Sensei Dawn will be wearing a face shield.
  • Everyone 8 years old and older is required to wear a face mask when in public.
  • Family members that come to the dojo will need to wear face coverings.
  • Masks are NOT required for those engaged in exercise, so they are NOT required for karate & kobudo students during classes.
  • Social distancing will be maintained – mats have been color-coded for at least 10x10 sections for each student. This will provide almost twice the amount for social distancing.
  • Students must tell Sensei Dawn when they are going to the restroom so that she may properly disinfect surfaces afterwards.
  • Close proximity activities will not occur in classes at this time.
  • The student must be free from COVID-19 symptoms. If during class any of the symptoms appear, the student will be asked to leave. If the student is a child, the parent will be contacted, and the child must be picked up from the dojo within 20 minutes. Symptoms include:
    • Fever of 100.4oF or higher
    • Dry cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Chills
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Muscle aches
While many of these symptoms might be non-COVID-19 symptoms, we are proceeding by assuming that they are. These symptoms typically appear 2-7 days after being infected, so please take them seriously. You will need to be symptom free for 72 hours before returning to the dojo.
